For many people, folding laundry is probably THE worst part of actually doing laundry, BUT it doesn't have to be! In this blog post series, I am going to show you easy ways to fold jeans, mattress sheets, sweaters, t-shirts, and even socks. YES! Socks. This is going to be life changing when you realize how much space you are going to save. It's time to leave those tendencies behind and adopt a new way of folding your clothes. I'll be adding to this post so be sure to check back for new 'how tos'! Follow us on Instagram @clusteredclosets for more updates!
Perfectly Folded Sweater
Step 1: Lay your sweater down flat. Here's a little trick that I follow: I take (pinch) the sweater from the armpit area and shake it so that it straightens out. This will align your seams, making it easier to follow the steps to come.
Side note: If you're going to store your sweaters in your drawer, I suggest storing it standing up, with the neck are at the bottom of the drawer. This makes it more appealing. See example below.
Perfectly Folded Jeans
STEP 1: Lay your jeans flat. It doesn't matter if the crotch area is on the top or bottom, the steps are the same. If you want a clear step by step, just follow the pictures.
STEP 2: Take the flap of the crotch area and fold it inwards. Press down so that it stays in place.
STEP 3: Take the bottom part of your jeans and fold it towards the top of your jeans. *Notice that I didn’t bring it all the way to the waist. Again, press down so that it stays in place.
STEP 4: Repeat. BUT this time do not bring it to the top of your jeans. Bring it about 2/3 of the way and AGAIN, press down so that it stays in place.
STEP 5: Bring the fold to the top of your jeans
Congrats! You've just completed the Marie Kondo method of folding. You're going to high-five yourself when you see how much space you save.
Happy Organizing! xoxo
